Rahul Deepak Kumar – Editor-In-Chief
Rahul is a third year Arts and Global Studies student, specialising in journalism and international relations. Possessing an innate passion for global affairs, Rahul first became a MIAS member in 2024 and has since participated in numerous MIAS events, including MUNash 2024 and 2025. In 2025, he was a sub-editor for PIVOT, and he has also written and edited for other Monash publications, notably MOJO News, Monash’s student-led publication for journalism students. In 2026, Rahul looks forward to shaping PIVOT as a space where students can drive discussions and meaningfully express their views on international affairs.
Jeremy Newcombe – Deputy Editor-In-Chief
Jeremy is a final year Law and Arts (Economics) student. He has edited for other publications before joining PIVOT, including the Monash University Law Review. Jeremy intends for PIVOT in 2026 to be the benchmark for international relations student publications. His fascination with international affairs is one shared by many: a desire to untangle the incorporeal social, political, legal and economic dynamics governing the world we have inherited. A particular interest of his is understanding through the study of comparative law and legal sociology the real effect of domestic and international legal systems upon the behaviour of international actors.
Vanessa Marcon – Sub-Editor
Vanessa is a third‑year law student passionate about international affairs. Having lived in several countries and speaking multiple languages, Vanessa brings a global outlook to everything she does. As a Pivot Sub-Editor, she is excited to help platform diverse perspectives and support thoughtful, accessible writing on issues that matter to our community.
Rumaysa Salman – Sub-Editor
Rumaysa is a second-year Law/International Relations student and Multicultural Youth activist committed to uplifting disadvantaged communities through education. With a vast social justice portfolio, passion for leadership and volunteering, as well as experience in journalism, she’s dedicated to making international affairs education accessible for all. In the future, she aims to shape that accessibility through PIVOT, to ensure geopolitical international education is no longer a privilege, but a commodity shared amongst communities.
Lizzy Bingham – Sub-Editor
Lizzy is a third year Arts student majoring in journalism and international relations. She wrote for Pivot and was involved in MOJO News, Monash’s student publication, throughout 2025. Lizzy has long been passionate about international affairs and has particular interests in women’s rights and global gender inequity, the bidirectional relationship between culture and politics, and the role of populism in contemporary politics. She is looking forward to continuing her involvement with Pivot this year in an editorial role.
Greta Lawrence-Smith
Greta is a third year Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Global Studies student, specialising in International Relations. She has a strong passion for international affairs and history and previously participated in the Victorian Youth Parliament program, where she developed her skills in policy debate and collaboration. As a Sub-Editor, Greta looks forward to supporting student voices and contributing to thoughtful discussion on global issues through PIVOT.
