The Monash International Affairs Society (MIAS) has appointed Sonali De Silva and Filip Markoski as Co-Editors-In-Chief of Pivot for 2020, succeeding Ryan Attard who held the role from Pivot’s foundation. Their term will commence with Pivot’s first edition in February/March 2020, once handover is complete.
Sonali De Silva is a foundation member of the Pivot publication team, joining as a writer in May 2018. She was appointed as a sub-editor at the beginning of 2019. Her previous articles have included an analysis of the Christchurch shooting in March 2019, the crisis in Venezuela, controversies surrounding Huawei, and an niche piece on the Italian-Israeli artichoke war.
Filip Markoski was appointed a sub-editor at the beginning of 2019, the same time he joined the Pivot publication team. He has written about attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, the recent Canadian election, the impact of social media such as Twitter, and provided his own photography for our small-countries series, writing on Monaco.
“It was a pleasure to work with both Sonali over the past year-and-a-half and with Filip since the start of this year. It is hard to let go of something you have created but I have complete confidence they will execute the role well. They are both extremely experienced and will ensure that Pivot continues to grow and publish interesting and insightful pieces that will engage everyone while educating on important issues.”
